My favourite office snack that you must try

In June last year, I had the idea to bring papadum to the office, I may be overstating this slightly, but it’s been one of my best culinary decisions recently!

Most papadums are made from urud daal, a type of lentil, therefore they avoid some of the common pitfalls of grains.

They come in many flavours, they’re crispy, salty and very satisfying – perfect for a late afternoon snack!

I buy my papadums from various Indian stores (such as this store near Euston and many more in Wembley/Kingsbury) where they’re very affordable, and remain shelf-stable for months even after opening, however require cooking. Don’t let the cooking put you off, it’s quick, easy and all you need is a microwave.

I break the papadums into triangles so they cook evenly, place the strips in a mug, which I line with a paper towel to prevent the papadums from sticking, and then place them in the microwave for 45 seconds. Depending on how many I make and the type, they sometimes require a little more time.

After that, I have a warm, delicious and mostly guilt-free snack as a pick-me-up.
